Mendocino Art Center (MAC), Artist in Residence for October, 2009
I was lucky enough to be able to have an artist in residence stay at the Mendocino Art Center. Barbara and I lived in an apartment located right on the campus. The staff of the MAC made us feel at home and they were very helpful in making our stay enjoyable and productive. If you have never been to the MAC then by all means try to do so. It is an great community art center and its members are a dedicated and talented mixture of local, regional and national artists. While I was there, I worked mainly with mold making, cold casting and lost wax bronze making. The bronzes that I made are pictured below. First, here are some pictures from our time there.

During the residency, I worked mainly on lost wax bronze casting which was not what I originally planned to do but ultimately seemed to be the best use of time. Our bronze pour was satisfactory and a great leaning experience. I gained a better understanding about wax models and their tolerance for the bronze transfer. Here are the figures that I brought back home. For reference, the standing man is 11 inches tall.:

My many thanks to all at the Mendocino Art Center.
All the best,
